The day started very misty, but by the briefing at 9.45 it was a lovely sunny day. The problem was, there was little or no wind, and not well defined in direction. The PRO’s nightmare scenario!

However the assembled skippers were understanding, supportive, and patient. We set a moderately satisfactory course and were off at 10.05. This pattern of uncertain wind continued for the whole day. There were many course changes to accommodate the shifts, (it moved to almost every point of the compass during the day. Even so the racing went smoothly, if at a leisurely pace through the day. It was a beautifully sunny day, which compensated to some extent for the poor wind.

Dave Andrews was race leader at race 4, but Trevor Binks was always in contention, despite a bad result in R4. In R5 Trevor started in 5B and won 5A to take the overall first place again. Race 6 had Chris Treagust as race winner but Trevor Binks as event leader. Race 7B started at 14.30, was still in progress at 15.00 and was abandoned as a time out.

Trevor emerged as overall winner with Dave Andrews only 1 point behind. In fact there were only 7pts difference between the first 6 places.
