Our Christmas Cracker 2009 race, sailed 13-12-09
A very good turnout of 10 boats for our 2nd Christmas 2009, club race. We elected to sail a race schedule, but even so 9 boats on the start line in a NE breeze, sometimes on the limit of the No1 rigs, often gave frenetic starts with not infrequent pile ups.A long course was set, and with the delay of changing RO’s, it was 14.00hrs before we had completed the required 10 races. Decision time now "another 5 races with 2 skippers off" or "stop now". The threat of rain made "stopping" the popular choice but it didn’t please everyone.
We had had 10 good races in breezy conditions that tested boats and skippers. At the finish the names of the winning skippers were no surprise, but it was pleasing to see Peter Constable up there in 3rd place (just, by beating Terry Colson on count back). DGM.
