Report from Laurie Bower Hampton Court MYC finally managed to start the Micro Magic racing season on Sunday 10^th March following an earlier postponement due to an iced up lake. An impressive turnout of 20 boats were split into 2 fleets in order to minimize bunching up at the first windward mark. The seeding races were won by John Tushingham and Buzz Coleman over a relatively long course which tested all points of sailing. A 30 minute lunch break was had in our very well heated clubhouse at which point Dave Andrews was leading the racing by a very small margin The wind increased slightly post lunch and the sun finally made an appearance. A small number of skippers changed down to their flat top rigs but with little appreciable difference to performance. We managed to squeeze in 11 races and at 4.10pm racing came to a very satisfactory end. The scores were quickly added up and showed John Tushingham on top with 13 points followed by Buzz Coleman with 23 points. Dave Andrews secured 3rd place with 25 points. A very successful day for the club and competitors , and an excellent warm up for the UK Championships to be held at Hampton Court 16/17 June 2012 (entry list now open).
